GIANNINA URMENETA OTTIKER (Lima, 1966) was born in Peru, but nowadays she lives and works in Ghent. After her studies in Lima and Barcelona, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. Giannina Urmeneta Ottiker showed her photographic work in various group and solo exhibitions and in addition to this, she was for many years the photographer of the Art Centre Vooruit in Ghent. Through her photographic work, she displays characters, still lifes and landscapes bathed in a mysterious and dark atmosphere. She is fascinated by the search for a specific darkness, as ambiguous balancing act between brightness and darkness and the subtleties of texture and colour.
